Student Organizations

Various organizations and activities keep students informed and foster collegiality. The Student Photographic Association (SPA) is a student-run organization that brings in professional photographers and sponsors workshops and field trips. It also holds dinners and other social activities.

Our Yahoo Group is an electronic message board where information is posted daily. It has over a thousand members including faculty, students, alumni and friends.

Another way of staying in touch with the SECPS community is through our Facebook page. This is used more casually and conversationally than the Yahoo site.

Our Blog, Sightline is a place for serious, in-depth discussion of current topics in photography in which we facilitate, and contribute to, the conversation among the global photography community.

Student Publications

Our students can participate in “In Motion” and “Aeolus” “In Motion” is an award-winning monthly newspaper that publishes Fall and Spring semesters. Students gain valuable skills, experience and career counseling by becoming a staff member. In Motion is always seeking photographers from our program. An online, electronic version of "In Motion" features streaming video and multi-media additions. The Photo Editor is selected from among the photography students. The center double page spread is always an opportunity for students to develop a substantial photo essay.

“Aeolus” is a yearly literary magazine of students’ writing and photography published during the Spring semester. The annual edition is unveiled during an annual Poetry Slam, when students celebrate its publication.
